Vidyo Chosen by Leading Latin American Distributor Commlogik to Enhance Product Offering with “Personal Telepresence” Solution

Okt 5, 2010

Hackensack, NJ – October 5, 2010 – Vidyo, Inc., the first company to deliver personal telepresence, today announced that Commlogik Corporation, a major value-added Telecommunications distributor for Latin America,  will distribute Vidyo’s award-winning  line of “next generation” videoconferencing products to resellers servicing customers in Central and South America, Mexico and the Caribbean.  Vidyo is the only videoconferencing company to provide a software-based solution that extends from room systems to desktops, including laptops and netbooks, tablets and smartphones, over standard broadband Internet or 3G or 4G networks, with no proprietary hardware.

“Commlogik prides itself in bringing the ’best of breed’ products to our reseller and marquee customer base,” said Alexandre Hebra, VP Operations, Commlogik Corporation. “We see a tremendous technology void in the ‘personal telepresence’ space that only Vidyo can fill. Our relationship with Vidyo allows us to not only expand our customer base into areas where high quality video has been cost prohibitive, but also enables us to offer business quality personal telepresence systems — Vidyo’s full screen 60 FPS videoconferencing on the Internet with no perceived latency. Vidyo supports businesses today where and how they work and their next generation architecture will support our customers into the next decade over the Internet or 3G or 4G networks, allowing our customers to extend the reach of their business communications.”

“Vidyo is pleased to partner with one of the largest and most respected distributors in Latin America as they support Vidyo’s innovative line of products for desktops and rooms, and soon smartphones,” said Rob Hughes, Senior VP of Worldwide Sales.  “Our relationship with Commlogik strengthens Vidyo’s reach into key markets throughout Central and South America where there is a strong demand for a telepresence quality multipoint solution that can be easily accessed via the Internet and other general purpose IP networks.”

Vidyo’s unique architecture, built from the ground up, is the first in a new generation of software solutions that leverages the H.264 Scalable Video Coding (SVC) video compression standard.  H.264 SVC enables a video stream to be broken into multiple resolutions, quality levels and bit rates. Utilizing this capability and Vidyo´s intellectual property, VidyoTechnology™ offers unprecedented error resiliency, eliminating the central component of legacy video conferencing—the Multipoint Control Unit (MCU)—and replacing it with a distributed architecture using an application layer router. Because Vidyo’s solution is based on software, it can easily be expanded, upgraded, and customized for customers’ individual Enterprise and vertical market video conferencing needs. Vidyo’s product line spans a full range of potential applications, from the VidyoDesktop™ with personal telepresence capabilities on a PC or a Mac to the VidyoRoom™ that encodes and decodes HD-quality video at up to 60 frames per second. Vidyo solutions can be used by everyone in a company, whether from the office, home or while traveling, via general IP networks, including the Internet.
