Vidyo Raises $22.5 Million Series D to Fund Global Expansion of First Affordable, End-to-End Telepresence

Vidyo, Inc., the first company to deliver personal telepresence, today announced a $22.5 million Series D round of financing, bringing the total amount of capital raised by the company to $97 million since its founding in 2005. Existing investors, Menlo Ventures, Rho Ventures, Star Ventures and Four Rivers Group participated in the round, which was led by QuestMark Partners. Vidyo will use the funding to further expand its sales and marketing activities to address the global market demand for higher quality, more flexible and scalable mobile, desktop, room system and immersive telepresence systems.

Vidyo’s “State of the Art” Platform Chosen by Vedder Price Law Firm to Replace Its Legacy Video Conferencing System

Vidyo, Inc., the first company to deliver personal telepresence, today announced that Vedder Price, a law firm with headquarters in Chicago, has selected Vidyo’s communication and collaboration platform to “future-proof” video conferencing activities within the company. Vidyo was chosen to replace the firm’s legacy system which, according to the company, had become extremely limited in terms of flexibility and scalability. Vedder Price purchased and deployed the Vidyo system in October of 2010 after a thorough trial period in which they sampled Vidyo as a service to see if it would effectively satisfy the firm’s need to allow its lawyers and other staff to use the system for a variety of purposes between its three U.S. locations in Chicago, New York and Washington, D.C..

Vidyo Selected By Ontario Telemedicine Network to Expand Home Care and Telehealth Services Using Video Conferencing Solutions

Vidyo, Inc., the first company to deliver personal telepresence, today announced that one of the world’s largest telemedicine networks, the Ontario Telemedicine Network (OTN), will use the Vidyo platform to expand its current network and create a tele-home health network that will interoperate with its existing video conferencing network and extend the reach of its telehealth services into patient homes. Conveniently located in every hospital and hundreds of other health care locations across Ontario, more than 134,000 clinical consultations were conducted using telemedicine over the past year. Vidyo Drives Interoperability of H.264 SVC Standard-Based Systems

HACKENSACK, NJ, May 12, 2011 – Vidyo, Inc., the first company to deliver personal telepresence, today announced that two of its internationally renowned technologists, co-founder and chief scientist, Dr. Alexandros Eleftheriadis and Dr. Stephan Wenger, CTO of VidyoCast , the company’s broadcast division, were among the four co-authors of the “RTP payload format for Scalable Video Coding” specification that was published as RFC 6190 on May 7, 2011. The standard was developed by a group of experts in the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF), and defines how SVC is to be carried in the Internet over RTP (the real-time protocol used for video and voice). It will be used wherever SVC real time video is transported over IP-based networks, and is considered to be the most significant document for ensuring interoperability of scalable video transmission next to the coding specification defined in the H.264 standard.
