Bring Your Own Hardware: Mediasite Adds Epiphan Support
Mediasite now supports recording with Epiphan devices including the Pearl Nexus, Pearl 2, and Pearl Mini.
Why Now?
Rooms don’t look the way they did five years ago. Lecture halls, flexible classrooms, simulation labs, and hybrid meeting spaces each come with their own budgets and hardware constraints. Customers have told us that they want more choice in the hardware itself, and a single-hardware strategy no longer meets the growing needs of every type of room integration out there.
Partnering with Epiphan lets Mediasite meet institutions and enterprises where they are, instead of asking every room to fit one hardware mold.
What You Get
- Hardware that fits the room: Pick the device that matches your space and budget, from Pearl Mini’s compact footprint to the rackmount capacity of the Pearl Nexus or continue to use a mix of your existing Mediasite recorders.
- Scheduled recordings like you already do: Schedule Epiphan devices directly from the Mediasite Management Portal, using the same scheduling workflows you already use for Mediasite recorders.
- Flexible, Ad-hoc recording support: Press record on your Epiphan device, and the recording publishes to Mediasite automatically.
- Leverage existing workflows: Videos published to Mediasite can leverage existing video lifecycle workflows like captions and archival policies your organization is already using.
- Accessibility out of the box: Recorded events can leverage the accessibility features you already rely on with Mediasite like captions, Optical Character Recognition (OCR), smart search indexing as well as advanced features like translations, alternate audio tracks, audio descriptions and other advanced accessibility options available with the Aequalis Accessibility Engine.
- Mediasite, unchanged: Management and delivery of your recorded videos still run through Mediasite exactly as they do today and works perfectly with Mediasite Cloud as well as self-hosted and air-gapped deployments of the Mediasite Video Platform.
The Hardware
Pearl Nexus, Pearl 2, and Pearl Mini support between one and three video streams, enabling full “rich media” playback in Mediasite offering a similar recording experience.
What this means for you
If hardware fit has held back a room deployment, or you’re evaluating how to bring more spaces online, this gives you a new option, without changing anything about how you manage or deliver content in Mediasite.
